RICHARD PELL
Posted on June 10th, 2010 by Breaking News
Richard Pell has left the club and signed for Harrogate Town, the deal offered by Harrogate was more than Blyth Spartans could match whilst maintaining the playing budget for the season. We all wish Richard (Pelly) all the best with his new club and thank him for services in his time at Blyth. |

Managers daddy splashing the cash again eh? When will these clubs learn that living way beyond your means will end in tears when the money man walks?
I really hope Northwich win their appeal and Harrogate play next season in the Evostick.

I don't wish Pell or his new club the best at all. Infact I wish them nothing but bad times. Please don't anyone dare to assume they can thank him and wish him all the best on my behalf.
I guess we'd better get the white flag out now seeing as we've given up.

I don't really know the full ins and outs, but from what I can gather they have spunked money up the wall twice now, so I would think little chance. They must think there is a chance though, or they would not be doing the appeal.
Find out tomorrow I think.

I'm getting sick of seeing other teams strengthen at our expense, whether its bringing in players we wanted or now bringing in players off us.
I'm already thinking what's the bloody point next season. Success in football these days is all about having the money, even at our level.
We have no money to spend (apparently). No money = no success.
Another season in the wilderness beckons, and it pisses me off no end.
Sod Pell and sod Harrogate. I do not wish him or them success in any way shape or form. Bitter? You're damn right!

If Harogate are offering silly money and Pelly has taken it then there is no point bemoaning the fact. His decision not ours. You offer Pell more and the rest have to go up in line?
Why all the doom and gloom. The ground is up to scratch and the team when on song can compete in this league. Any improvement in away form will see us top half.
I would much rather we ran a tight ship and stayed afloat whilst the rest sink...cos its going to happen, possibly titanic style at Harrogate. Relying on being someones plaything is not a recipe for footballing success at this level. Hopefully Mick can get some lads in who want to play for us and the lure of Harrogates trinkets won't turn their heads.
It is just our misfortune that stuck in the North that the only team going down this path are our nearest neighbours. That i believe is the law according to sod.
Lets get this distraction in South Africa out the way and get the real stuff back on. Howay Blyth!

Well that's alright then.
But here's the thing, we won't improve if we can't get better players and we can't get those because.....well you know.

I see they've gone for the long winded variation on the 'silly money' party line there for a change.
Could mebees go for 'unrealistic wage demands' or 'stratospheric wonga wishes' when the next couple of players leave us or turn us down.
Load of shite.

Pell is totally blameless in all of this my sources quoted an offer 60% better than ours. If we offered him £200 that means they offered him £320. Only a fool would stay. Remember there is no such thing as loyalty in football. Anyone who thinks there is needs carting off to the funny farm.
What bothers me is that we will have to bob along as usual. Long term that is a recipe for disaster as gates will continue to decline and before you know it we find it slightly more difficult to "bob".
Our moral highground on all things financil does ensure some form of survival. However there has to come a point where merely surving becomes so dull and tedious that people vote with their feet.
Football is all about hope and optimism, looking at that league last year we were a couple of players from a challenging team. Now we are scrambling to keep the ones we have got and on the eivdence of Pell not always succeeding.
So what if Harrogate are being funded, there is absoulely nothing wrong with that approach. As there is nothing wrong with ours, what we have to realise is that with our approach its extremely hard to compete and accpet that this is our lot.
As ever Happy Happy Days

I hope they go tits up. We'll just smash them on the pitch and show them money isn't everything!
