A four figure transfer fee to sign Pell yet only on a contract until the end of last season?? Why no 18 month contract so he was tied up for this season also?

Money down the drain by the club. We must have money to burn......oh wait, we don't. Very prudent Evil or Very Mad

We're faacking loaded, we're just salting it away though for when the world ends in 2012. No point pushing the boat out when that boat is going to get smashed to pieces by a massive apocalyptic tsunami.

The Goats new stadium will be finshed by then - just in time to get washed away. That will be quite amusing, for a few seconds.......

I've read through this thread and i find a lot of the Spartan fans anger very understandable. The 'Glorious cup run' of a couple of years ago was meant to be the springboard to put you guys up there amongst (or at least challenging) the non league elite. Cant remember how much it actually was, but it seems like looking outside in, very little has been put into the team itself?? It's all very well making the club sound financially, making the odd ground improvement here and there and keeping a bit back for a rainy day, but lets face it, fans want success dont they? It's why we turn up every week! Not to get beat and say 'oh well. At least we are financially sound....'

What now for the Spartans?? wait for a another cup run before you take the odd risk? Its such a shame to see a decent ground and potential fan base go to waste in my opinion.

Invest a bit more in the team and who knows. Seems to me your guys at the top dont want to try.Im not saying splurge out Harrogate stlye, but be slightly less prudent??

Doesnt matter either way to me, but from an outsiders point of view it seems a shame.

It is very difficult to compete against clubs who have a sugar daddy that is prepared to throw money down the drain.
MT has been given a budget that will be based on a realistic expectation of the income that will be generated by the club this coming season.
When a competing club come along and offer our non contracted players a level of wages that most people do not earn working in a full time job, then we can do nothing (sensibly) about it.

Is that fact? If so, are we to believe that none of the cup money has gone towards a playing budget?

i reckon that their realistic expectation may be lower than they imagine.i for one can't see an average crowd better than last term, unless of course the team start off well.

To be honest the whole 'Pell-gate' saga its virtually a non-story

Events such as these are such a common occurence that they cease to amaze nor enrage me anymore. It represents simply more of your regular pre-season nothingness at Croft Park.

If I was offered a similar role for a lot more cash in a more ambitous comapny in this economic climate I'd snap your hand off for it like he has. 'The bairn needs new shoes and all that' I bet his lass was saying.

Whilst we continue to warble on about Harrogate and their wodges of cash the facts are they have money, we have not. That says as much about those we entrust to run our football club as it says about those getting a back hander off rich daddy shirley? Additional investment? Nee chance.

Judging by the depth of disgruntlement feeling on here stems not just from the ex-beloved NUFC rabblerousers but the masses and the extreme regulars. I've scarcely seen a postive posting from any of the regulars for yonks bar Brassy/Robbie signing on and you can bet theres a hint of regret in them decisions now.

Whilst the so-called 'Spartansdoom' forum offers is merely a snapshot for supporters of Blyth Spartans as a whole I would be surprised if the feelings being expressed do not reflect that across all those who do not use the forum, the silent masses.

The execs need urgently do something positive to stem the tide as next seasons gates will be gateshead-esque.

It was going to be hard enough to get folk to tip up based on recent seasons dirge without frittering away your best players and transfer targets no matter what the financial goings on in Tory-ville have caused.

Back to the barby and vino

I've heard people say before that it's only a small minority of supporters on here which is of course correct. But it's a pretty decent range of supporters on here and you can pretty much be sure if 50% of people on here are pissed off and despondent then 50% of our over all support will be pissed off and despondent.

To just dismiss feelings on here as irrelevant would be foolish.

Anyways, there'll always be a Harrogate or a Durham or a Goatshead splashing it about. When one big spender goes under you can bet some one else will find a new source of funding. It's not a workable plan to just hope someday the culture of unsustainable cash will disappear.

So if we are really serious about being ambitious and wanting to progress then we need to join in the big money game and find some one willing to pay for it.

If we don't then fine but we should be under no illusions that our way of doing things will only produce the odd upper mid-table finish. We have reached our natural limit now - whilst we may have the desire to move up (in the same way most people would like to win the lottery) we aren't showing any ambition to because ambition costs serious money.

My main concern is that peoples patience is finally running out and right now there are several clubs who are offering a better product. At worst that loses us spectators to them, at best it makes people question what we're doing......or not doing. Crowds won't keep turning out and paying good money for something that doesn't change and doesn't get better.

Another season like last and we'll be down to gates of about 300. And after that.......

To think that the only dissenting voices amongst our supporters are those who post on here is ill informed and naive to say the least.

I would like to think that if the silent masses had an opinion to the contrary of what gets posted on here they'd be willing to join up to share their views no matter how contradictory or controversial they were with the rest of us.

Lets face it, at least the supporters on here want to voice their views beit positive or negative. Should that be looked on more or less favourably than that of those who simply turn up for games and don't have an opinion worthy of sharing? Does that just show they actually care less about the club and therefore make whatever views they have less relevant?

Who knows, a veritable tightrope indeed.

Either way we, as a club, are at present fucking rudderless as we drift ever nearer to the edge of the waterfall ...........
