Post subject: Blyth Spartans XI 4-4 North Shields XI
Blyth side contained Bartlett, Price, Williams, Dale, Crawford, A Gildea, L Gildea, Leeson, Forster, Turns, Fenton, Christensen, Boyle, Brown, Graham & McClen.
North Shields had Brian Smith playing for them amongst others.
North Shields went into half time with a two goal lead. In a crazy 12 minute spell after the restart Price pulled one back, Alex Gildea went past several North Shields players before equalising, Dale rounded the keeper and finished from a tight angle and then squared the ball across for Fenton to tap in to make it 4-2 Blyth.
We then had an effort ruled out for offside as did North Shields a few minutes later. Two late goals made it 4-4 and the penalty shoot out was won 3-2 with an audacious Fossie effort.
But the result obviously wasn't that important, a crowd of what looked about 600-700 raised over £2000.

Great game befitting of the occasion.
Enjoyed watching so many of his team mates back together.
Credit to Adam, Alex & Liam for making the effort to travel all the way for the game.
Great tribute to a great lad, his friends did him proud.
RIP Anth.
tragically gone but certainly not forgotten.

great to see a good turnout..not a bad kick about either....not sure about the ref, he lacked a bit of fitness and the linesman, entertaining to say the least . well done everybody.......showed what it means to be a spartan. RIP ANTH.
